Argos
Warmoesstraat 95
1012HZ Amsterdam
The oldest leather bar of Amsterdam originated in the early 1950s, from the Argos Hotel , a hotel without rooms. When the hotel was ordered closed by the police, the Argos Bar came into existence. It was a simple place, the bar being the living room of the owners. In the basement was a storage room and toilet with a passage leading to them and there the first dark room of Amsterdam started.
Today, the Argos Bar is still going strong, located in the heart of the red-light district. With a spacious ground floor bar, friendly staff, and a crowd of all ages, the bar attracts predominantly those of the leather, rubber, and uniform scene. A very cruisy atmosphere, with a basement darkroom. Since 1994, the bar is owned by Eduardo Bettega Curial, considered by many as an icon of the gay scene. Easily recognizable by his swarthy good looks and outgoing manner, Eduardo has worked hard to maintain the bars original character.(source : argosbar)
