Bump new gaybar in Amsterdam Kerkstraat

The latest addition to the Amsterdam gay scene is called BUMP: fun and free of attitude. Not just for gay men!
This new, clubby bar on the Kerkstraat will be opened at the end of March by the team behind bar PRIK.

AMSTERDAM – BUMP is a new hotspot for the Amsterdam gay scene.
BUMP is a large bar on two floors,
where everyone will feel welcome:
it’s fun and not too serious. Sip a cocktail,
hit the dance floor, order yummy bites or lounge on one of the comfortable sofas. Daily deejays spin deep grooves,
nu-disco and funky electro.
The small stage will host live acts regularly.

BUMP is housed in a historic building on an important location for the gay community:
between 1976 and the early nineties the old coach house used to be the home of gay discotheque Homolulu. After World War II,
Kerkstraat developed into a centre of the gay community, being ideally located between Leidseplein and Singel,
where the first gay establishments sprang up. BUMP picks up this illustrious thread of history at a time when the Amsterdam gay scene can definitely use a boost after the closing of many pubs.

BUMP is an initiative of the men behind bar PRIK on Spuistraat.
PRIK has been a huge success since the opening in 2006.
The lively mix of visitors enjoys the good music,
quality service, friendly prices and lack of pretence. Recently the bar was voted ‘Best gay bar in the Netherlands’ by visitors of the website Gaysite.nl.
In October 2010, readers of Time Out Magazine selected PRIK as ‘Best gay & lesbian venue’ of Amsterdam.
